Start a TypeScript WhatsApp application with one command
The public create() flow prepares a browser and returns a ready messaging client, alongside named response contracts and clearer API diagnostics.
Developers and operators
OpenWA 5.2 introduced a one-command Bun and TypeScript application scaffold:
bunx --bun @open-wa/wa-automate init my-botThe public create() flow prepares a matched browser, presents QR login and returns a ready messaging client. Missing browsers can be provisioned at startup using shared cache coordination and configurable download settings; custom drivers and low-level lifecycle control remain available.
sendText returns a validated message ID or throws SendTextError with a known-not-sent or uncertain outcome. Uncertain sends aren't retried automatically.
Named return contracts drive canonical method references, linked type definitions and OpenAPI responses. CLI parsing preserves configured session, host and port values when the corresponding flag is omitted, forwards link-code configuration and displays generated codes locally. Bounded session diagnostics support reviewable dashboard issue reports, and the API reports its running package version.
This is the historical 5.2 release summary. For a new installation, use the current quickstart and 5.5.1 rather than pinning this older release.
